About Us
K-CAT (K-State Comprehensive Assessment Tools) is a not-for-profit distribution company created under the Kansas State Research Foundation. The name was chosen because is connotes an umbrella description for a series of instruments that have been designed by a group of professionals in human services and institutional evaluation at Kansas State University during the past 10 years.
These assessment inventories are designed to provide screening, feedback, diagnostic input, and outcome evaluation for specific areas of student performance.
Assessment is the key component for student service personnel utilizing a process that is timely, relevant, and practical in order to provide students with the advice, counsel, intervention, and skill acquisition necessary for success in the college environment.
Accurate assessment will also permit the establishment of baselines of measure in order to track change and outcome. The demand in higher education today is to demonstrate value added to the student deriving from their educational experience. This same demand is placed on both academic departments and service support units.
The vision of K-CAT is to provide on-line easy access assessment resources for counselors, advisors, faculty and other personnel working with college students. The array of assessment tools (referred to as the tool kit) can be viewed by visiting the tools page.
