K-CAT Tools

The K-CAT suite contains five tools; the K-PIRS, K-PIRS Form-B, CLEI, HBA, and PASS. Two additional assessment tools are currently under development; the Career Readiness & Planning Inventory, and the Stress Behaviors and Resilience Inventory.

K-PIRS

K-PIRS is an instrument that identifies college-student client concerns at the beginning of treatment and, when used with K-PIRS Form-B, assesses behavior change over time. The instrument uses multi-point scales to gather information about presenting symptoms, level of interference with functioning, and readiness to change.

The K-PIRS Form-B client evaluation utilizes repeat measures from the K-PIRS on the 50 question (7 factors) and interference with academic and social function. It also includes additional outcomes measures (progress on counseling goals, symptom reduction, decision-making, problem-solving, goal achievement, health and well-being, stress management, and relationship.

CLEI

The CLEI (College Learning Effectiveness Inventory) measures psycho-social variables that have impact on student learning success. The CLEI includes 50 items. The items are behavioral attributes for six learning factors hypothesized from learning theory and empirically confirmed and validated.

HBA

The HBA (Health Behaviors Assessment) was developed to assess three areas of healthy lifestyle functioning including physical activity, eating behavior, and personal management skill. The instrument includes 52 items and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

PASS

The PASS (Personal Attributes and Social Support Inventory) provides an indicator of one's perspective on various actions, interactions, decisions, and outcomes occurring at this point in time. Perspective is the context upon which a person views their opinion, attitudes, and experience in life. The PASS includes 11 items reflecting two scales (Personal Attributes Scale, Social Support Scale) and 2 experimental items of Religious/Spiritual Beliefs.
